IUI (Intrauterine Insemination) is a fertility treatment where prepared sperm is placed directly into the uterus at the time of ovulation to improve the chances of fertilisation. It can be done during a natural cycle or with medication to support ovulation.

IUI is often recommended for same-sex female couples, single women using donor sperm, couples with unexplained infertility, or mild male factor issues. Your Avenues doctor will guide you based on your individual fertility profile.

Many patients try up to three cycles of IUI, as success can build over time. We offer a three-cycle package at a discounted rate to give you flexibility without financial pressure.

IUI is a quick, minimally invasive procedure. Most people experience little to no discomfort. It is often described as similar to a Pap smear.

A single cycle is £2,149 and includes medications, scans, bloods, AI sperm selection, and pregnancy testing. Our 3-cycle package is £5,849. Donor sperm is charged separately.

You’ll meet with your consultant to review results and next steps. If IUI isn’t right for you, we offer advanced options like IVF, including our Fair IVF and Impact IVF programs, all supported by the same caring team.

IUI is typically recommended for people under 38 with regular ovulation and healthy fallopian tubes. It’s also commonly used by single women or same-sex female couples using donor sperm. Your consultant will guide you based on your age, ovarian reserve, and fertility goals.

IUI may not be effective if you have blocked fallopian tubes, very low sperm count, severe endometriosis, are of older age or have past failed IUI cycles. In these cases, IVF or another personalised treatment option may give you a better chance. We’ll always be honest with you about what’s most effective.

FAIR IVF is designed for first-time cyclers under 35, with good ovarian reserve and no history of IVF. If you meet those criteria and want a more comprehensive treatment with higher success rates, it may be a better fit than IUI. But if you’re just starting out or prefer a lower-intervention option, IUI might be the right first step. We’ll help you figure that out in your consultation.

Our treatment packages include the medications required for a standard treatment protocol. The cost of these medications is included within your package price up to the applicable Package Medication Allowance. 

Every patient’s treatment is personalised, with the exception of Fair IVF. If your Consultant determines that your treatment requires additional medications, higher medication dosages, or a longer course of medication than is included within your package, these medications are not included in your package price and will be charged separately. 

Examples of medications or treatments that may incur additional charges include, but are not limited to: 

• Human Growth Hormone (HGH)  

• Pergoveris® above 150 IU per day  

• Stimulation medication above 300 IU per day  

• Stimulation medication required beyond 10 days  

• Lubion® more than once daily  

• Clexane® / Inhixa®  

• Prednisolone  

• Melatonin  

• Immunology medications  

• Any medication outside the standard treatment protocol prescribed by your Consultant  

If additional medication is clinically required, your Consultant will explain the medical reason for the recommendation. Before any additional medication is dispensed or treatment proceeds, your Patient Navigator will explain the associated costs and obtain your agreement. 

Where possible, you will always be informed of any additional medication charges before these costs are incurred.
